The Vistas of the Pedregal print series is a depiction of The Pedregal de San Angel Ecological Reserve, a serene oasis nestled in South Mexico City (also known as the UNAM Botanical Gardens). The University established this garden to safeguard the natural terrain of the Pedregal (southern lava fields of Mexico City) from urbanization. This distinctive landscape has long captivated artists and designers — with Luis Barragán being a particularly notable mention.
Within the reserve, the natural lava field filtration system, which historically regulated rainwater, maintains harmony within the city and its surrounding ecosystems. Exploring the rich history of this landscape and Mexico City inevitably draws attention to the contemporary water crisis afflicting the city today.
To lend some help to this situation, 20% of each print sale will be donated to IslaUrbana, which offers design-driven solutions to Mexico's water crisis.
